Cowlin Presents: Luvstuff

We had a chat with a duo who are the bass music award winners, who are originally from Birmingham. The two are making big movements with both their own releases as well as their DJ bookings… We welcome Luvstuff!

The two have been working hard for years and with their recent success is proving a promising future for them both.

Lets start with talking about how you two first joined forces?

We met in a small club just outside Birmingham where Sam was a resident DJ, we hit it off and literally the next weekend we played a back to back set for the entire night, you can probably count on one hand the amount of times that we haven’t played together since then.

Are there any hidden messages behind you two naming yourselves ‘Luvstuff‘?

No, no hidden messages, a lot of people ask us that but we actually took the name from a Sagat record from the mid 90’s, there was an Armand Van Helden remix on the flip which we both liked, we still use it to close a few our sets now.

What artists have recently been supporting your music?

Support seems to have gone a bit crazy on our forthcoming material, Maceo Plex, Joris Voorn and Cuartero jumped on the Soul Divide remix and seems like everyone is on the list for our next EP from Andrea Oliva to Hannah Wants, and from Carl Craig to Tough Love.

What’s been your most favourite DJ booking you two have performed at?

It’s difficult to name one I guess, Sankeys in Ibiza is always good, as are the Cutting Edge parties, Amsterdam has been our favourite gig of 2016 but the Ministry of Sound Box (main room) last year for Get Twisted was amazing.

What releases do you have scheduled for the next two months?

We’ve had a remix just drop on Amplified, our EP ‘On the Offensive’ is out in two weeks on Low Steppa’s Simma label, then we’ve got another couple of remixes out over the Summer, one for Eddie Amador, which we’re excited about.

Where would be your dream venue to play at and why?

A lot of people say DC10 and yeah obviously we can see the attraction and would love to play there, but we love the UK and the best event we’ve ever been too is LWE at Tobacco Docks, it’s just so different to any usual club or festival.

Ibiza 2016, whats your plans for the summer?

We can’t say too much but we’ve got something in the diary at Vista, Privelege, with another date or two pencilled in so you’ll definitely catch us over there this Summer!

How did it feel to win your first award?
It was great… At first we didn’t even know we were nominated, it was Sam’s girlfriend who told us as she was up for breakthrough act as part of Toucan (and won!), when we looked into it we had been nominated for best deep bass single and rising star, both categories were really tough, we were up against more mainstream artists like Blonde, Oliver Heldens and Disclosure but we managed to come 3rd in one and win the other!
