Francis’ Top 5 Tracks | September

We spoke Hippies Records co-owner Francis as he tells us his favourite tracks that he is currently playing in his performances.

Everything But The Girl – Missing (Todd Terry Club Mix Version)

This is my number one track purely for the moment I witnessed it and heard it for the first time, Kolsch was playing Ants in Ibiza and half way through a heavy set I heard the guitar riff of this, and everything went silent. Everybody in the crowd knew it was a special moment and it will stick with me forever, i’ve tried playing it on the odd occasion but its a b*tch to mix in!

Luca M & Just2 – Sweet Love (Chus & Ceballos Iberican Remix)

For me Luca M & Just2 are some of the big iconic producers of the last few years. A number of there tracks have defined the year they where made, I’m lucky enough through the label to have made a track with Luca M and he is a complete genius. This track sum’s up everything I love to play when I DJ and even though its 2013, its still as relevant today which is one of the hardest things to do when making music.

Richy Ahmed – The Drums

One of the classic tracks of the ‘Tech House’ genre. For me one of the pioneering tracks for a lot of the sound we enjoy today, I’d never heard basslines or vocals like this before and it was definitely one of the original tracks to push me towards what i do now.

Rub A Dub, Joey Daniel – End Of Discussion

Two of my favourite producers have to make an appearance in my top 5, ive chosen this one for its intro. Such an organic build into the track and the drops get harder and harder as the track progresses.

Alexis Cabrera – Latitas

One of the grooviest tracks i’ve ever heard, Pat Wilson first showed me it at a house party and then when i saw him perform it live as part of his boiler room it secured its place as one of my favourite tracks, 13 minutes of pure groove!
