Saturday 26th March we travelled down to Motion in Bristol. Jamie JonesApollinia, DJ Koze, Audion,  Shanti Celeste, ItaloJohnson and Ron Morelli all were amongst the line up over across 3 rooms.

Motion is one of the UKs most unique venues which is fondly used within the underground music scene. A warehouse venue with 3 rooms of house and techno music… perfect!

From 23:00 – 03:00 in the main room, we were welcomed the French 3Apollonia. Members Shonky, Dan Ghenacia & Dyed Soundorom played an amazing hour set which consisted of house hits and techno stompers.

From the start of their set they kept things mellow and their track selection was so much more melodic with long break downs in between drops.. Towards the end of their set where they then handed over to Audion, their tempo increased and they started to play more stomping hits.

Audion LIVE played after the French team. Audion is a one man team; Matthew Dear is a DJ, a dance-music producer, an experimental pop artist, a bandleader. He co-founded both Ghostly International and its dancefloor offshoot, Spectral Sound. He’s had remixes commissioned by The XX, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Spoon, Hot Chip, The Postal Service and The Chemical Brothers.

From 03:00 – 04:00 Audion played a live set consisting of an Ableton Live setup with numerous of controllers.

Throughout the hour, the set reached different concepts of the underground music scene. Deep house, tech house, acid house and techno all mixed in between each other to make a unique sound. Towards the end of Matthew’s set, the tracks he played were very deep which made it perfect for the handover to Jamie Jones.

Jamie Jones up after Audion to close the main room from 04:00 – 07:00. The room was completely rammed for when Jones took over the decks and you could feel the energy and excitement in the air as people knew for the last few hours of the event, they were going to be taken over a journey of some of the best underground music. Jones started his set with a festival styled approach which consisted of long intro tracks. Throughout the hour set, Jones played some of the best house and techno hits which kept everyone until the early morning.

What an amazing time we had at Motion! We spent majority of our time in the main room as thats where we felt had the best music to offer. ApolloniaAudion LIVE and Jamie Jones in the space of hours in a venue which was best suited for the music the DJs played!
