Angele – Balance Ton Quoi

I don’t know what there is about Belgian artists these days, but my top 2 inspirations to me as an artist are both Belgian. This song, Balance Ton Quoi by the incredible Angele, is something I look up to so much. That’s the kind of message I want to deliver with what I make. I don’t think I need to say anything more, take a look at that video and you’ll understand what I mean.

Stromae – Papaoutai

You see, I don’t even speak French but somehow both Stromae and Angele have left me with my mouth open every time I look at what they’ve made. This song means so much to me. Probably also because I can relate to this one so much personally but also just cause it just makes you feel so much. The fact that both of these top 2 tracks aren’t love songs, break up anthems or whatever, is something that I really dig.

Broken Social Scene – It’s All Gonna Break

Now a total throwback to when I was 15, riding on a bicycle along the beach in Latvia with my best friend binge listening to Radiohead, M83 and well, crazy amounts of the Broken Social Scene. This song is still something that I’ll put on every time I need some motivation to keep on going.

Piem & ANNNA – 19 (Josh Butler Extended Remix)

Alright I know that this is also my track but the reason why this one’s on the list, is because this track, and it’s remix by Josh Butler, changed so much in my life. This was my first release on the incredible label, DEFECTED. Because of this release, I made so many friends and decided to switch things around and even make my own dance act called Might Delete Later. I’m so thankful for things like these and I cannot wait to show you what Might Delete Later has to offer already in August!

MGMT – Time To Pretend

Ok, I know everybody knows this one, but still, this song is the one song that makes me cry every time. Why? Take a listen to those lyrics! It reminds me of all the crazy things that one goes through and how little it all actually matters in a bigger perspective. Sometimes I put this one on right before a take-off on a plane or at the start of a train ride. Just for that moment when you need to get yourself together.
