Top 5 Tracks – Redfreya

For our next Top 5 Tracks interview, we were welcomed by Redfreya to see what she is digging at the moment! Freya has recently played at E1 in London, holds a residency on the mighty Bloop London Radio weekly and is a resident for London’s iconic melodic techno party, Parable.

Tascame – Clavis [Isolate]

This gem by Clavis (a collaboration from German producers Manuel Tur and Adrian, AKA Urban Absolutes of Paskal & Urban Absolutes) was released in 2020, and it’s a track I’ve rinsed over the last two years, playing it in numerous sets because of it’s versatility, irresistible groove and distinctive polyrhythms. As a DJ, this track is so smooth to mix and blends really well with almost anything, and even though it’s quite a subtle / not that upbeat track, it always gets the dancefloor moving and because it’s quite unique, creates a refreshing atmosphere.

For You – Fahlberg [MoBlack]

For You was only released on MoBlack at the end of June this year, so it’s a pretty recent addition to my collection, but after dropping it several times on the dancefloor, it has repeatedly created such an intense emotional moment – bringing everyone together, with people hugging each other and the room filling with a feeling of love – which is the type of emotional atmosphere I am always aiming to create with my DJ sets.

Never Sleep Again (Keinemusik Remix) – Solomun [Nobody Is Not Loved]

Another  ‘love song’ – a recent release by two of the biggest names in melodic music, Solomun X Keinemusik, this track is incredibly well produced, with a dreamy, lilting melody line and evocative vocal (the vocal hook is ‘Remember love? Can you hear me? Excited, Restless’) – this track creates an instant feeling of human connectedness on the dancefloor, so is another essential in the bag for me.

Moved Not Stirred (Dodi Palese Remix) – Vhyce [Monaberry]

This upbeat indie-dance track is a remixed by Dodi Palese, a producer I have huge respect for – the original by Vhyce is a beautiful track, but it’s a lot more mellow/airy, whereas Dodi’s retouch with an added driving and punchy bass and synth line creates instant dynamism – it’s a go-to track to play after a slower, emotional moment to restore an uplifting energy in the room.

Loveless (Ivory Night Call Remix) – Tripolism [Metrica]

The 3rd love-themed song from my list (you can tell that strong emotional and passionate feelings are a big focus for my DJ sets)  – is this remix by Ivory, another of the most talented producers out there at the moment – this track is slower, distinctly emotive and a little bit haunting, and I love to play this towards the end or for closing a DJ set, as it smoothly lowers the energy in the room whilst maintaining a good atmosphere.
