Touchdown – Andres Campo

We talk to artists as they touchdown in a new city to play a show. Kicking the series off, we caught up with Andres Campo.

Andres releases his 3 track EP, Filth On Acid which is out on the 8th AprilPre order link

Q1. So, tell us where you departed from and landed into today?

I took off from Barcelona, my hometown and have landed in Lima, Peru.

Q2. Is this a one-off show, or part of a bigger tour? (If a tour, tell us where you have been so far)

So, this is a mini–South American tour. I start off in Lima tonight (Friday) and then will be flying over to Montevideo in Uruguay for a show tomorrow. I love coming here, but it’s been very hard with the market and their restrictions due to covid.

Q3. What venue are you playing tonight and who else is on the line up?

I will be playing in Club Certse in Lurín on the coat, and I am headlining the party with local DJ’s – Judas and Andrea Zapata.

Q4. What is one item you can’t travel without?

Passport? Hahaha. But seriously, I can’t leave the house without my neck pillow and noise cancelling headphones.

Q5. Tell us your typical gig schedule – do you get to see much of the places you visit?

I try to do a bit of tourism if I can, I love to visit new places, I hate to visit just airports and clubs, especially when I visit beautiful countries from which I am very far. But in all reality when you have two gigs in a weekend, its one to another and you don’t get much time anywhere.

Q6. One thing you hate about being on the road?

Lack of sleep and the fact that I’m gluten free and sometimes is hard to find something to eat when traveling. This varies on where I am travelling, but I can tell you that the South Americans aren’t so good at offering gluten-free food options.

Q7. Finally, tell us the worst / funniest thing that’s happened to you whilst on the road?

The worst one was back in September of 2011. I missed my flight from Medellin to Barcelona (the first flight) as my boarding pass has ‘Andres CG’ on it. (My last names are Campo Gonzalez) so they didn’t allow me to board. It wasn’t a nice feeling to watch the plane take off without you, and you have to re-book again at your own cost. But I did get to spend one more day in one of my favourite cities.
