Touchdown – Iglesias

We talk to artists as they touchdown in a new city to play a show. We spoke with Iglesias prior to his performance at Hi Ibiza for Paco Osuna in the Clubroom.

Q1. So, tell us where you departed from and landed into today?

Hey! So today I landed in Ibiza for the first time this season. It has been a long time since I’ve been here due to covid, but I am so happy to be back.

Q2. Is this a one-off show, or part of a bigger tour? (If a tour, tell us where you have been so far)

You could say this is a one off show today. I wouldn’t class it as a tour, but I will be back playing here in September for the same crew.

Q3. What venue are you playing tonight and who else is on the line up?

Tonight is a big one! I will be joining Paco Osuna in the club room of Hi Ibiza as well as Fer Br. In the main room you can find The Martinez Brothers and Seth Troxler going b2b.

Q4. What is one item you can’t travel without?

Okay so I will do two here haha. I will split this up into gear (pardon the pun) and a personal item.

So in terms of DJ Gear it has to be the SoundBite Pro. Doesn’t matter which mixer I am playing on, that little toy always gets me excited and allows me to make interesting moments during my sets.

In terms of a personal item it would be my Air Pods Max. They actually got some really mixed reviews when they were first launched but they see easily my favourite headphones to watch films on and listen to music (not for producing or mixing at all though haha).

Q5. Tell us your typical gig schedule – do you get to see much of the places you visit?

I rarely am able to travel the city or look around and visit the surrounding areas when I travel. This is normally due to terrible flight times,  having to travel to another show or get back home to the studio to run my business there.

An example of this is I am playing in Auckland NZ in a few weeks time. It will take me about 30 hours to get there. I will land, go to the hotel, shower, eat, play the show and then head straight to the airport to get to my next show in Sydney. I have always wanted to visit and explore New Zealand, but maybe next time haha!

Q6. One thing you hate about being on the road?

Funnily enough, I actually really don’t like flying haha. I need to find some kind of hypnotism that will allow me to enjoy flying. I am cool with little sleep and interacting with people I have never met people. But yeah… flying.. not a fan of it haha

Q7. Tell us the worst / funniest thing that’s happened to you whilst on the road?

Mmm, that’s a hard one. Recently I nearly slept through my entire set in Spain. I set my alarm for a 30 minutes nap and woke up 3 hours later to calls from the promoter and Latmun smashing on my hotel room door as we were meant to play b2b in 20 minutes time (the club was 10 minutes away). That one was pretty bad haha.

Other than that I am actually always on time, very professional and never get into too much trouble whilst I’m touring 🤥

Q8. Finally, what new music do you have coming up in your schedule that you can tell us about?

I have a bunch of singles, remixes and EPs coming out this year on the likes of Revival, Mindshake, Kaluki, Woodlands Records and more!
