Touchdown – Saytek

For our next Touchdown interview, we caught up with Saytek as he headed to Croatia to play at Moondance Festival, which was hosted in a 15th century Castle.

Q1. So, tell us where you departed from and landed into today?

I departed from Gatwick and landed in Trogir in Croatia, its really a beautiful place!

Q2. Is this a one-off show, or part of a bigger tour? (If a tour, tell us where you have been so far)

Well its a bit of both really as I am constantly touring so kind of part of one big tour but no album or concept attached to this one!

Q3. What venue are you playing tonight and who else is on the line up?

Its Moondance Festival and its set in a 15th century Castle. The venue is amazing! There was also boat parties as well. I played Friday headlining the festival arena and MR.C headlined the boat party. On Saturday its Jamaica Suk, Oliver Deutschmann and Insolate.

Q4. What is one item you can’t travel without?

Haha as a live act there are many literally have a huge back and maximum sized hold luggage stuffed with gear and cables. Apart from that I have room for a few T-shirts, pairs of boxers and a wash bag!

Q5. Tell us your typical gig schedule – do you get to see much of the places you visit? (Where are you playing in the next coming months?)

I am pretty busy and normally its in and out I see a lot of clubs, festivals, airports, roads and hotels and not much else. This year has been great so far with shows all over the UK and Europe with highlights including Dr. Mottes Birthday at Garten der welt in Berlin and Carl Cox has Invited me to DC10.

Coming up its the same, loads of festivals including Mysteryland, Lethargy and Summer Love festival. I also have my debut India tour coming up in September. Then autumn and winter I have loads of cool club shows booked in!

Q6. One thing you hate about being on the road?

The airports with no sleep! It’s pretty painful queuing endlessly with sleep deprivation.

Q7. Tell us the worst / funniest thing that’s happened to you whilst on the road?

To be honest it’s all pretty sensible now days apart from the shows which are incredible! Touch wood nothing really bad has happened and I hope it stays that way!

Q8. Finally, what new music do you have coming up in your schedule that you can tell us about?

I have a 5 track EP coming on Superfreq, 5 tracks coming on Vinyl on a new label from Warsaw called Acid Works. I also have singles coming on R&S and Awesome Soundwave. I am planning a series of vinyl releases on my Cubism imprint.
