For our first interview back of the year, we caught up with 4000Hz before he made his debut at Parklife Festival in Manchester.
Q1. So, tell us where you have departed from and landed into today?
I flew in from Paris and landed in Manchester for my first time playing at Parklife. I’ve heard so much about the festival over the years, so it’s a pretty special one to tick off the list.
Q2. Do you have any other exciting bookings for the rest of the year?
Yeah, I’ve got a busy summer and autumn ahead with a few festivals and club shows across Europe. I’ll be playing at the Teletech pre party in Hidden at Downtex Mill in July 31st, and there are also a couple of international shows like Poland in August 21st, Gotec in September 18th, another Teletech party in Wuerzburg in October 16th, Hamburg, Bristol and of course Paris and many more that will be announced soon.
It’s shaping up to be my busiest year so far.
Q3. What stage are you playing and who else is on the line up?
I’m playing on the stage La Matinée hosted by none other than Teletech and XXL Techno. The line-up is stacked, so it’s an honour to be sharing the bill with so many artists I respect like Azyr, Fumi, Yosuke Yukimatsu, BLK, Different and Faster Horses.
Q4. What is one item you can’t travel without?
Definitely my headphones. Whether I’m prepping a set, making playlists or just trying to switch off during flights, they’re always on me. And more recently, I became addicted to my neck pillow, without it, I simply can’t recover enough between shows.
Q5. Tell us your typical gig schedule – do you get to see much of the places you visit?
It really depends. Sometimes it’s fly in, soundcheck, gig, hotel, airport. Other times I manage to stay an extra day and explore a bit. I always try to check out the local food and walk around whenever I can. Over the next few months, I’ll be playing in Manchester, Bristol, Hamburg, Worclaw, Werzburg, Karlsruhe.
Q6. One thing you hate about being on the road?
The lack of sleep, for sure. Early flights after late shows never really get easier, but it’s all part of the job. And most importantly I’d say being away from my girlfriend and my dog Dobby.
Q7. Tell us the worst / funniest thing that’s happened to you whilst on the road?
One time my luggage decided to go on its own little tour and arrived in a different country before I did. Luckily, I always keep my USBs and headphones in my backpack, so the show still went ahead without any stress
Q8. How often do you produce music when on the road, if so, what does your production setup consist of?
I try to work whenever I have a few quiet hours. My setup is pretty simple: my laptop, headphones, an external SSD and Ableton. Touring actually gives me a lot of inspiration because you’re constantly hearing different crowds and different sounds
Q9. Favourite food cuisine you have eaten whilst on the road?
I’d probably say Japanese. You can find amazing Japanese food in so many cities around the world, and it’s always my first choice after a show
Q10. Finally, what new music do you have coming up in your schedule that you can tell us about?
I’ve got a few new tracks and collaborations coming over the next few months. But the main event will be the release of my EP with Teletech coming out July 3rd. I’ve been testing a lot of unreleased music in my sets recently, and the reaction has been amazing, so I’m excited for everyone to finally hear what’s coming.
