We had a chat with Max Chapman straight after he made his debut for Boiler Room. As well as Chapman speaking about his Boiler Room debut, he also told us how he stepped into the underground scene, what releases he has coming up, as well as Chapman telling us what festival he is most looking forward to for 2016.
Lets start with talking about your set at Boiler Room… This is a MASSIVE achievement for any DJ!
Yes its pretty mad! First of all it was my debut in Ecuador, my debut for Boiler Room’s and to top that off it was Boiler Rooms debut in Ecuador too! The fact that it was at Lost Beach Club in Montanita was just a dream come true so many things at once! I feel extremely blessed and honoured. I actually played a total of 12 hours over the course of of the 2 days I was there which is exactly what I like to do!
How did the performance go?
I just played straight up tech house. I knew what to do from the moment I landed and it seems to have paid off! I have heard and watched a lot about Lost and i know the style they like. Everybody in the club loved it and for me it was unbelievable.
Where was the session recorded from?
Lost Beach Club, Montanita,Ecuador. It is a infamous place among ravers and fellow DJs, its just crazy!
How long have you been in the music industry for and how did you first get yourself involved?
Around 5 years ago I took some CD’s to Sankeys Manchester with 5 tracks on, 4 originals and an edit. They were literally the first finished tracks that I thought could be played out so I took some to Sankeys to give to the DJs.
That failed as I got so drunk that I lost them! Luckily Simon Heslin who owns Electronique Records found one and stuck it on whilst having a lock in, at this point I was fast asleep and woken from a call from Simon saying that he would sign every track all but the edit. 1 month later it was premiered on Pete Tongs show… How about that! (Thanks Simon)
What can we expect to hear from your productions in the next 2 months?
I have EP’s on Elrow Music, Lost Records, Incorrect Music, Resonance Records plus some originals and a remix on Viva Music.
Talk us through what we can expect to hear on your record label next, Resonance Records…
We have a few bits up in the air at the moment but one thing that’s out next is Majesty’s new EP with remixes from Latmun and Anek.
How often do you listen through promos you have been sent?
Everyday!
Summer 2016 is nearly here… Where can we can you performing?
You can see me at Sankeys for at least 6 shows… I can’t say who for but I’m sure you can guess…
What festival are you most looking forward to this year?
Im really looking forward to Purr Festival in Holland. Im closing a stage with the likes of Cuartero, Dale Howard, Wade plus more…
