Voorn makes his latest new talent discovery in the next release on his Green imprint in the form of fellow Dutchman Boy Bianchi. Hailing from The Hague and with only a handful of previous releases to his name some years back, Boy Bianchi sounds like an incredibly exciting prospect on the back of fireworks.
Although the name might be new, he’s no newcomer to music. A full-time producer, he makes everything from pop to film music, and that sense of musical sophistication and understanding really shines through on Fireworks.
A stripped-back melodic techno track that wouldn’t sound awry on KOMPAKT, the track is propelled by double-time on-beat synth pulses and has a fizzing, white noise-tinged, soaring lead line at its heart whose effervescent quality gives the track its name. Slowly building and swelling to giddy heights, it’s a masterclass in potent melody and subtle-yet-punchy dancefloor theatrics.
In true Joris Voorn style, his own remix stays true to the charms of the original but dials things up just a notch. He opts for thick snares and ticking hi-hats to pick up the energy in the percussion, providing a thicker backbone for the epic riffs to push against.
Sweet vocal cuts are added for another rhythmic element, and all that spine-tingling magic of the original is amped up just the right amount. With support from the likes of John Digweed, Pete Tong and Joris’ regular B2B partner Kölsch, it’s proving a big winner on the dancefloor.
