It’s nearly that time of the year again. The daffodils are starting to blossom and Techno season is going to start moving from the clubs to the fields and beaches.
To welcome this shift, there is always one festival that is seen as the start of the festival season. Time Warp. A 21-hour no-nonsense ‘techno made in Germany’ marathon which brings as much happiness to the acts performing as it does to us ravers. Gregor Tresher once described it as a real family feeling where all the biggest names in the scene get together for the first time since the winter break!
The DJ’s are given long set times, which is always fantastic as it enables them to really take you into the depths of their record collection amassed over the last year, as well as experimenting with material that wouldn’t normally fit into a two-hour slot.
Nobody embraces this better at Time Warp than Richie Hawtin. Never one to shy away from experimenting with new stuff at the worst of times, it’s during his six-hour set from 8am-2pm that he tries out new productions of his own or off colleagues just to see how it changes the moves and atmosphere on the dance floor filled with such audiophiles before releasing these!
This year in Mannheim the lineup includes a variety of no-nonsense Techno such as Chris Liebing, Rødhad, and Klaudia Gawlas all the way to the top three of the Resident Advisor’s 2016 DJ poll: Dixon, Tale Of Us and the debutant Jackmaster!
This list is by no means exhaustive as legends such as Carl Cox, Sven Väth, Adam Beyer, Loco Dice, Ricardo Villalobos and Dubfire will also be there to give us a chance to travel a musical journey with them.
If you are into raves and Techno then you want to mark the first of April with a very big, fat, red X on your calendar to not miss this incredible party!
