We recently spoke with Avision prior to his London performance at BEAT after spending some time at ADE.
Avision also has his track ‘Find Myself‘ being released on Drumcodes ‘A Side Vol 11‘ on the 25th of November – PRE ORDER
Q1. So, tell us where you departed from and landed into for the show?
I departed from Amsterdam, just went over to ADE for a couple of days then landed in London.
Q2. Is this a one-off show, or part of a bigger tour?
It’s part of a bigger tour. I started off with two shows in NYC, played b2b with Victor Calderone and then Maceo Plex at Avant Gardner/The Brooklyn Mirage at the start of October. Just had my debut in Berlin at Watergate last weekend, and now I’m here in London.
Q3. What venue are you playing tonight and who else is on the line up?
I’m playing at BEAT club tonight.
Q4. What is one item you can’t travel without?
A 5950 NY Yankees hat. If I’m travelling for more than a week, I bring at least 3 hats lol.
Q5. Tell us your typical gig schedule – do you get to see much of the places you visit?
I generally play 1-2 shows a week right now. If I’ve been there before I’m usually in and out quickly, but if it’s somewhere new I haven’t been then I try to see as much as I can while I’m there. Tomorrow I’ll be in Paris for the first time, and later this year going to Colombia and Argentina for the first times as well. I want to experience as much as I can while I’m there.
Q6. One thing you hate about being on the road?
Delayed flights, cancellations, anything to do with the annoying part about travelling – the problems that aren’t in my control. That being said, none of those things are really that big of a deal, and it’s a blessing to be able to travel as much as I do.
Q7. Finally, tell is the worst / funniest thing that’s happened to you whilst on the road?
Funniest – I’ve brushed my teeth a couple of times with shaving cream just being deliriously tired lol.
Worst – flying to Canada during an ice storm, being stuck on the runway for hours and then playing to 5 people after that.
