For our next interview, we caught up with Jesabel after her performance at The Steel Yard in London for Parable. Jesabel also has a release out on the 3rd May with Nazzereene on Enhanced Recordings.
Q1. So, tell us where you have departed from and landed into today?
Technically from Sydney, Australia to London, UK? I have just recently relocated to London and it was very exciting to have recently played a show in my new home town for the amazing team at Parable supporting Klangkarussell and Joachim Pastor alongside Marksman. The show was at The Steel Yard – what a venue! Loved every second.
Q2. Do you have any other exciting bookings for the rest of the year? (What dates and where?)
100%! I’m particularly excited about a show coming up supporting Booka Shade in London at Studio 338 on 1st June as well as an unreal rooftop party with my brothers over at Konflict Records on the 29th June. Exciting times.
Q3. What is one item you can’t travel without?
I weirdly take every medicine ever with me in case of emergencies! I just never want to be without anything, you know? Especially when going abroad. Nothing worse than needing something and not having it!
Q4. Tell us your typical gig schedule – do you get to see much of the places you visit?
Generally I’m a fly in, fly out kinda girl. I love to get an early flight home – I can be such a home body. That being said, as I start to see more of Europe I definitely want to take some time to explore and understand the culture. Coming from Australia it’s so nice to have it on your door step.
Typically, I would get in, eat, sleep, prep, get ready and then show time!
Q5. One thing you hate about being on the road?
Being by myself. I like my own company but it does get lonely. There is nothing better than sharing new experiences with the people you love. I wish I could drag everyone along with me!
Q6. Tell us the worst / funniest thing that’s happened to you whilst on the road?
I witnessed a couple doing the deed on the dance floor on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Aus. Am I allowed to say that? Hahaha. It was extremely funny when they thought they couldn’t be seen and then we locked eyes. Very awkward!
Q7. How often do you produce music when on the road, if so, what does your production setup consist of?
I try my best to get creative on the road but it can be hard being sleep deprived. That being said, I like to carry my mini midi keyboard just in case I get the urge or feel inspired. It’s so portable and lends itself to on the go prod!
Q8. Finally, what new music do you have coming up in your schedule that you can tell us about?
A lot! Got a new one with Enhanced Recordings on 3rd May and another with Zerothree in June and maybe a cheeky one in between those…but shhhh thats a secret! Really excited to be working with the teams at Enhanced and Zerothree on a few records this year. Their support has been amazing.
