We caught up Lauren Lo Sung just after she signed her her deal with Safehouse Management. To anybody that knows, they manage some of the biggest names in the underground scene which include names such as Carl CoxJohn DigweedNic FanciulliJoseph Capriati plus a full list of other names on this calibre.

Lauren told us what we can expect from her for this year, what her recent set was like at The Warehouse Project, how she bagged the management deal plus a load more of questions.

Lets start with opening this interview up with talking about your recent set at The Warehouse Project in Manchester… How was it?!

The crowd couldn’t of been any better really, it was probably one of my favourite sets I’ve ever played. Just seeing my name on that line-up amongst the likes of Ben Klock & Nina Kraviz was enough to keep me smiling for weeks!

The Store Street venue is great, it’s got the perfect underground feel and the sound and lighting makes the experience even more incredible. I played 8-9PM, just before Midland in Room 2.

I kept to my style, playing groovy percussive tracks, rolling basslines and some dub-techno. On NYD the crowd were a DJs dream, I’d love to do it all over again. You can check out my set on my soundcloud page:

Talk us through your ‘LOLiFE’ project and what can we expect from this for this year?

It all started back in 2009 when I was at uni in Manchester, a friend of mine told me a club called “Red Rum” were looking for promoters to host events, so I started running my own night. It was a small, dingey basement club, which was a great platform for young promoters to start-off. From there we’ve held events in; Manchester, Liverpool, Sunderland & EGG London, booking local talent and well known DJs such as Jordan Peak & Samu.l.

I used to host a radio show in London for EGG, called the LOLiFE show. I have a podcast series which has showcased the likes of; Rhadow, Loquace, David Gtronic, Proudly People and more and a clothing brand which does really well too.

My friend Paul O’Hanlon & Chris Baxter help me run the events for LOLiFE, we’ve got plans for some really cool intimate parties in 2016, across the UK. Keep an eye out!

2016 now amongst us, whats your next 2 months DJ schedule looking like?

It’s looking pretty good so far.. I’ve got gigs coming up in Manchester, Liverpool, Fabric in London, a festival in Canterbury, some amazing gigs coming up for TRMNL alongside some of the biggest DJs in the world (still to be announced)

I’m playing for Yousef’s CIRCUS again in March, alongside The Martinez Brothers, Alan Fitzpatrick, Marco Carola, David Glass, DJ Tennis, Sian Bennett & loads more.

Your most rememberable highlight from 2015?

It’s hard to think on the spot haha, off the top of my head I would probably say playing Amnesia in Milan, that was up there with one of the best. I had goosebumps when I was playing, couldn’t believe I was there!12540585_1084820638208929_7957611494840012610_n

What’s your top 3 tracks to play in your sets and why these 3?

It changes all the time, but some timeless favourites for me would probably be; Rhadow – Flashback, Nina Kraviz – Ghetto Kraviz (Regal 303 Dub) & an unreleased version of “All Under One Roof” remixed by Samu.l.

Where will you be performing at in Ibiza this year?

You will have to wait and see GetFileAttachment.png

You’ve recently signed to Safehouse Management. How does this make you feel that are you are being looked after by the same management as the likes of Carl Cox, YOUSEF, Nicole Moudaber, Joseph Capriati?…

Totally overwhelmed, when it was all finalised a couple of weeks ago I was completely in shock when I got off the phone to them. I was explaining to my Mum and I started crying and everything! Haha.. Tears of happiness of course.

I remember when I first went to Ibiza in 2008 and I could only dream of playing alogside some of these DJs, being under the same management as them is just a dream come true.

How did they contact you with regards to them wanting you on their team?

I got an email from my now manager Connor, saying that he would love to discuss possibly joining them, I then travelled down to London to meet the team and discuss the future and ended up signing with them.

You’ve performed overseas numerous amounts of times, but where has been your favourite venue to play and why?

It would have to be The Temanya Terrace in Dubai, or Amnesia Milan. The Temanya Terrace is just beautiful, they decorate a different theme each week and it’s high-rise and overlooking an amazing scenic view of Dubai.

Amnesia was great as it’s sound system was perfect, punchy and crisp with low end that filled the room. The crowd there were really special too, always cheering with their hands in the air, just there to have a good time.

Describe to us what your style of music is when you’re producing in the studio?

I would say it’s Deep, Techno influenced house music, kinda tech-housey but stripped back and groovy.
