We recently caught up with Manda Moor in between her extremely busy schedule. We spoke about her record label with Sirus Hood, where she will be playing in the coming months, how she first become a DJ, plus so much more!
Hi Manda, how are you doing?
Hey, I’m great and excited about summer 2023, thanks for having me.
Firstly, what new music do you have coming out in the next few months?
I have an EP in collaboration with Trangaz coming out on my label Mood Child, in digital, vinyl and NFT. Also, a remix on Cecille coming end of summer.
How do you juggle performing and producing music at the same time?
I do struggle to find the time for it because when I produce I have to be fully into it without other distractions and without ideas and urges of other obligations in the back of my head. When I’m in the mood, I do creative things like starting loops in the morning when my mind is fresh, then do arrangements later on during the day. I also can produce on tour thanks to amazing plugins like Roland Cloud.
The best thing to do I guess is to take some time off and just focus on making music, but I’m not willing to do that yet.
Do you have any exciting DJ bookings coming up?
I’m always buzzing for every show I do. But I’m most excited about October 3rd for my party, MOOD CHILD at Hi Ibiza, the wild corner!

When producing, do you spend most of the time writing music whilst on the road? Or do you wait until you are back home?
Back home where I feel the most comfortable and rested.
Would you say your sound has changed over the last few years? (If so, how has it changed?)
I don’t think my sound changed, but I do believe that my taste is constantly evolving, getting sharper and more in tune with my personality.
How did you first become a DJ?
I was studying Business in New York City and this is when I bought my first controller from Pioneer. I self-taught myself to play, and then started playing my first gigs shortly after.

Do you have any plans for starting your own record label
It’s already in motion, I started Mood Child with Sirus Hood, a new generation, community focused record label, event and clothing brand delivering original music on vinyl and digital, parties, NFTs, and experiences. Our first release “Homo Sapiens EP” by Sirus Hood & Malikk is out now, along with Mood Edits and NFTs all around it.

What’s the worst story you have whilst being on the road?
Thankfully I don’t have much to say except for some travel complications, the worst one was when I was flying to Peru without having slept the night before, and my connecting flight was cancelled last minute (THANKS IBERIA).
I managed to book another flight with another company that was departing in the next 15 minutes but it was on the other side of the terminal. The Fastest sprint I’ve ever done. Still don’t know how I managed to get on this flight. Then during the whole time, the person in front of me was silent farting, surrounded by screaming infants! Was looking something like hell to me!
