Introducing – Hattie Scanlan

For our new interview series ‘Introducing‘, we welcome different parties, brands and everything in between from all around the world.

We welcome photographer and videographer Hattie Scanlan to the interview series.

Let’s start by asking, what do you do for the underground music scene?

I am an events photographer and videographer.

Where are you based in the world?

Currently based in the UK but have been lucky enough to travel all over this year with incredible artists.

Do you have any upcoming events you are booked for that we can talk about in the pipeline?

This year has been absolutely mind blowing shooting at unbelievable festivals and events and plenty more to come! Just shot Solardo playing with the mighty Carl Cox at E1 London and coming up I have Brunch in the Snow in Andorra, Warehouse Project and Printworks, more across Europe and heading to America for the first time, then back into a busy Summer before we know it!

How did you first get into photography?

I am constantly listening to music and heading to events. I became obsessed with the energy of the crowd dancing to phenomenal music and how happy everyone was and I wanted to capture those moments. Music is such a powerful thing and to photograph those split second experiences in the crowd is just mind blowing.

Do you have any tips and tricks for anyone looking to get into photography?

The more you shoot, the more you learn. Try new styles, do your research and more importantly just enjoy it! The creative people that you get to meet really spark a fire in you to constantly learn new tricks and open your eyes to a whole new world of photography. Its pretty awesome!

What’s your favourite go to music to listen to?

This is a hard one haha! I fell in love with trance years ago and still love it now as well as tech house and a lot of melodic vibes. I listen to tunes for hours when im editing and get to watch lives sets when im working, what a dream!
