Adam Beyer presents Drumcode Halloween,
Saturday 31st October 2015
12pm – 10:30pm
Tobacco Dock, London
Following the success of every other event they’ve ran, London Warehouse Events (LWE) returned for another spectacular event, having the Swedish techno label Drumcode take over. The sold out event was set in the 19th century venue, Tobacco Docks and was perfect for everyones Halloween adventures. With enough artists to make 9-5 zombies fist pump out of their graves, it’s fair to say I was well looking forward to it. I spoke with a few of the artists backstage that were on the line up as well as catching majority of their sets.
Early arrival to the event and the queues seemed to be running smoothly. To anyone that arrived late and had to queue for ages, I’d highly recommend purchasing a VIP ticket for your next appearance. VIP ticket allowing you to miss all them hideous queues and enjoy more of the music.
If you wasn’t lucky enough to bag yourself a ticket, you missed out massively. From entering the venue from the start, the music was slowly on the rise with lovely vibes from Bristol based DJ Dubspeeka. Over the last 12 months he’s definitely been making an impact on the Techno scene, so it was only right that he played at this years Halloween Tobacco Docks. He’s released music on record labels such as Last Night On Earth, Drumcode, Suara, OFF Recordings and on his very own Skeleton imprint. Also well-known as one part of Kosheen, he’s now exploring the electronic music world in all its variety under his dubspeeka alias.
Having seen WAFF play from the early hours into the event from 13:30 – 15:00 in the Great Gallery. He sure got the crowds moving. I managed to catch up with him backstage after his set. We spoke about his music, how he’s got to where he has today, oh and that he wants to go buy a yacht after getting messy? Interview soon to be released so watch out for that.
I’d never had the opportunity of seeing Ida Endberg perform before so I was really looking forward to her set. A beautiful blonde Sweedish girl playing Techno, what more could I ask for? Ida played ninety minutes of some of the best Techno to get anyone and everyone sweaty in their halloween costumes. She started DJing at the age of 14, playing in clubs at the age of 18, done a season playing in Marbella which was then followed by Ibiza. Ida Enberg joined the ranks of Record Label Drumcode back in 2011 with two releases.
Everyone was really hyped up when German duo ‘Pan-Pot’ stepped up taking over from Ida for some really heavy hitting Techno. Having recently released their 14 track album ‘The Other’ on Second State Recordings, they were keen to show Tobacco Docks what they have been up to in the studio this year.
Maceo Plex aka Maetrik. One artist that is highly rated in the underground scene as well as my favourite artist. With every track he produces being golden as well as every DJ set that he performs being mind blowing, I was really excited to catch his set. Taking over from German duo Pan-Pot who smashed their set and set the standards high, he stepped up and done his job. Throughout his set I managed to catch some amazing video footage from being on the stage, track after track he was in full control of the crowd having them cheer, scream, whistle and anything else you can think off.
