A fresh new year means time for fresh new beats from the Deeperfect camp. For the second time, Leon returns to the label. Leon is a man that needs little introduction, due to his prolific international DJ schedule including a residency at Marco Carola’s Music On night, his discography of bombs which spans over a decade, and his continued support from the biggest DJ’s in the world.
Opening up the two track EP is the energetic tech house jam titled ‘Tribalism’. The namesake becomes clear from the first bar as a wash of intricate percussion and ethnic vibes sweep through the speakers like a tidal wave of sound. Slowly a vocal is teased in until it reveals itself as an epic reggae slanted hook that completes the sonic aesthetic with the help of a subtle acid riff. This is an undeniable floor burner and is bound to make waves in the coming months!
On the flip is ‘Trip N Forest’, which provides a deeper vibe to the previous track and creates a perfect balance on the EP. While the track is more stripped back and subtle, it still pushes forward with a pumping beat and bouncing, hypnotic sub-bass. The gritty textures of the drums are contrasted by silky smooth choral pads and a dubbed out vocal which provides the track with an air of mystery.
