Top 5 Tracks – Druzy

For our last interview of the week, we caught up with Druzy to see what their Top 5 Tracks are. Check out their recent single track out now on DRRT RecordsLISTEN HERE

Blood Orange – Chamakay (and the album Cupid Deluxe)

For this one, we are saying the first track on Blood Orange’s 2013 album, Cupid Deluxe. The reason – we would always start and listen to this album all the way through when we first started working together and falling in love. It’s one of those special albums/songs tied to nostalgic moments that we’ll forever cherish and be reminded of the feelings we felt from listening to this album.

Todd Terje – Inspector Norse

Let’s rewind to 2016. We decided to attend FYF fest in LA, mainly to see Tame Impala headline, but wanted to go and discover some new music and have a great time. None of the stages caught our attention until we walked by this song being performed live.

We immediately enter the crowd and are treated with every music lover’s dream – to come away with a new artist on your favorites list. This guy was so incredible, not only does his dance music transcend traditional electronic acts because he was playing with a band first of all and the songs translate perfectly. You can tell there’s heart and soul behind all of his music. So another nostalgic song as well!

Neon Indian – The Glitzy Hive

This song is one of a kind. It’s hectic, every frequency is filled with heavily FX’d sounds (and mind you the lows and highs are cut out too so that space is confined already), and it feels overcompressed or processed – however these are all part of the song’s uniqueness and charm. It’s balanced out by an especially dancy drum groove and catchy melodies throughout the entire song. We can’t wait to hear what he puts out next.

Prince – Let’s Work

Our ultimate hype song. We think it’s an overlooked piece of his catalog and is a contender for not only his funkiest song but one of the funkiest basslines to exist! It’s already so groovy but during the chorus/synth lead parts, he has a variation on the riff that is even funkier somehow.

Sheila E. – A Love Bizarre

We melt into the groove of this song. The lyrics are fun, uplifting, and catchy. When this song comes on, we never skip – it’s always just right. Plus, finding out that this is a Prince cut and learning about the history between Sheila E and Prince was a treat.
