For our recent interview on our Touchdown series, we caught up with Axel Haube as he jetted from Egypt to play in Barcelona.
Axel also has a remix out this Friday! – PRE ORDER LINK
Q1. So, tell us where you departed from and landed into today?
I just came from Egypt (North Coast – Sahel) and landed in Barcelona!
Egypt was already super nice in a packed club and looking forward to tonight!
Q2. What venue are you playing tonight and who else is on the line up?
I’m playing at Input tonight together with Undercatt and Marian Ariss. It’s my first time Input and heard many great stories about the club, so let’s see what happens! It’s high season in Barcelona so I’m expecting a lot to be honest.
Q3. What is one item you can’t travel without?
Definitely my noise cancelling earplugs & airpods. I went straight from the club to the airport without sleep so I was super happy I could sleep in the car & plane. Couldn’t manage to do that without them J
Q4. Tell us your typical gig schedule – do you get to see much of the places you visit?
I really try to visit the city when I have time (early arrival or late return flight) but it happens sometimes there is no time or I try to sleep before and especially after the gig. Like today I’m just going to rest in the hotel as I’m on closing duty from 04:00 till 06:00. Luckily it’s not my first time in Barcelona so I know the city already.
Q5. One thing you hate about being on the road?
Long car drives & delays like everyone else I guess? J J Lucky I didn’t had any delay this weekend but I had a 4 hours drive from the club straight to the airport last night.
Q6. Finally, tell is the worst / funniest thing that’s happened to you whilst on the road?
Worst thing I had so far: After 14h of travel and the reception told me there is no room booked on my name, being super exhausted and I just want to go to sleep, the last thing I wanted to do is managing this and having a discussion with the reception. Luckily the promotor fixed it quite quickly! So in the end I’m lucky so far as I believe there can happen much more worse things on tour!
The most funniest thing (as I prefer to tell more positive sides of being on tour) that happened on the road must be at Tomorrowland Winter, it’s not just a thing on the road but a whole week of fun. It feels / felt like a week of holiday with all other artists playing there. I went for example with Kevin de Vries on the dogg slets and snow scooters but the most fun part of that week was a dinner with a lot of familiar faces and lots of Genepi!
