For our next ‘Touchdown‘ interview, we caught up with Naz before she played at EchoStage in DC.
Q1. So, tell us where you departed from and landed today?Â
Arrived in DC from NYC!
Q2. Is this a one-off show, or part of a bigger tour? (If a tour, tell us where you have been so far)
This is a one-off show 🙂
Q3. What venue are you playing tonight and who else is on the lineup?
I am playing at EchoStage where I am in direct support for Tale Of Us. The amazing local talent Fatima is opening and then it’s myself then Tale Of Us then I am also closing.
Q4. What is one item you can’t travel without?
Headphones. I once raw dogged a 10 hour flight.. no headphones, no music, no movies. Just me, my thoughts and the screaming babies on the flights (bless them). 2/10 would not recommend haha
Q5. Tell us your typical gig schedule – do you get to see many of the places you visit?Â
Usually, gigs ramp up during summer which sees me travelling around a bit which is always fun. In terms of getting to see many of the places, it really depends. Unfortunately most of the time it’s a no as it’s usually fly in, straight to the hotel, shower and do any last minute set prep, then the venue then back to the hotel and then back to the airport again to fly out. So unless I arrive a day earlier I don’t get to do much tourism which sucks!
Q6. One thing you hate about being on the road?
Being away from family and friends. I’ve gotten used to it as I’ve spent the last couple of years away from Australia but yeah definitely the loneliness! I also used to be an anxious flyer… luckily I’ve gotten much better now but that was really difficult to deal with for a while there.
Q7. Tell us the worst / funniest thing that’s happened to you whilst on the road?
Ooh.. once had an incident with a friend of mine going back to the hotel after a show with a driver that was very scary. I would say that’s definitely been the worst so far. The funniest… I feel like whenever Olan, Andrew Bayer and I get together for a show somewhere it turns out to be the funniest and funniest time. Usually, towards the end of the weekend, we will cry laughing just from pure delirium but my funniest and best moments are always with those two for sure.Â
Q8. Finally, what new music do you have coming up in your schedule that you can tell us about?
A remix for Farius on Enhanced Music and some originals coming later in the year!Â
