Let’s start by talking about your upcoming EP ‘Forever’, how long have you been working on it for?

I start working on ideas and collect them all to one point when I feel like putting out a new record. I go through these and go to the studio with Tigerskin and finish the ideas I like to put out.

Some of the tracks I started in January, others in September but in the end, it was only 6-8 sessions to finish the EP.

Describe to us what type of sounds you have used to create the EP…

I used a lot of samplers and analog gear to have a mix of both worlds. I like using old funk and soul drums with some 808‘s for example, and some sh101 never really hurts. I wanted it as organic as possible, even some live performed guitar.

What artists have already been supporting it?

It’s quite diverse which I’m really happy about.

Jimpster, Acid Pauli, Adam Port, At Jazz, Stereo MCs, Soul Clap

Prior to a studio session, how do you get yourself motivated?

I always have periods where I work on a lot of music and then for weeks, I don’t do anything. I’m not that “going to the studio everyday” kinda person. That’s, of course, different when it comes to remixes which feel more like I’ve got work to do.

I’m a big fan of just zooming out and letting my emotions flow into my music, that needs a certain mood to be in.

2017 is now amongst us, which gigs are you most looking forward to in the next coming months?

Next Month I play the Cape Town Electronic Music festival which looks super interesting to me.

Also playing Puerto Rico, I’ve been there twice and it was nuts, and right now I’m a big fan of Asia, in May I will be travelling there again. Lots of good energy out there!

What is the greatest thing about being a DJ?

Traveling and seeing places you could have never ever imagine going there. Connecting with people who have similar interests but live 5000 miles away from your hometown. Playing music you love to people and seeing them smiling, dancing and having a great time.

Recently in the studio have you just been working solidly on the ‘Forever’ EP or do you have any more in the pipeline?

I finished 3 remixes that will be out in the next 2 months. and I have 2 more EP’s lined up for this year.

Name a country you haven’t yet played and tell us why you would want to perform there…

Peru is high on the list. I think Peruvian food is one of the best and I want to see Machu Picchu so bad. Plus, all Peruvians I met so far are like the nicest cats out there.
